Random Digit Dialing

Random Digit Dialing
The practice in which a computer generates random telephone numbers to dial. This is done in some phone surveys to ensure a random sample. Random digit dialing can include unlisted phone numbers. It is cost effective in some marketing campaigns, provided the area being dialed has a relatively high phone ownership rate. See also: Do not call list.
