Quadruple Witching Week

    0.01 sec.
Quadruple Witching Week
The week in which four types of standardized contracts expire: stock options, stock index options, stock index futures and single stock futures. Quadruple witching week occurs four times a year, in the week containing the third Friday in the last month of each quarter. Investors often unwind their positions on these contracts during or immediately before quadruple witching weeks, which leads to increased trading volume on those days. See also: Triple witching hour.
