Punter
Informal for speculator. A punter attempts to make fast profits from his/her investments regardless of the underlying fundamentals of a company. This means that a punter takes more risks than most investors, but may see very high returns very quickly. Punters almost always leverage highly in order to make their investments, and are especially common in futures and options markets. They may use any of a number of techniques to make investment decisions. See also: Arbitrage.
