Proprietary
Describing knowledge or another asset that properly belongs to one person or company. Proprietary knowledge and assets are protected and their owner is not required to reveal them. For example, a restaurant that makes the best fried chicken in town cannot be compelled to reveal its recipe as this knowledge gives it a competitive advantage over other restaurants.
