Prime Brokerage
A brokerage that provides services exclusively to institutional investors, especially hedge funds. Prime brokerage services include clearance, lending of securities, lending of money for leveraged transactions, and technical and support services. Prime brokerage services allow institutional investors to effectively outsource these aspects of investment to another party, freeing it up to concentrate on its investment strategy.
