Also found in: Medical, Legal, Wikipedia 0.01 sec.
premises liability

Responsibilities placed upon owners and occupiers of property to keep the premises in a reasonably safe condition so as not to injure persons coming on the property. The term is descriptive of a field of law; lawyers might specialize in construction litigation, lender liability cases, or premises liability lawsuits, for example. Some states have different standards of care depending on whether one must guard against injury to licensees, invitees, or trespassers. See owners and occupiers.
