Position Day
The day on which the seller of a commodity must inform the buyer of the delivery date of the commodity. This especially applies if the delivery date is different from the first permissible day. On the Chicago Board of Trade, the seller's clearing corporation also must notify the Board of intent to deliver.

position day
The day on which an investor with a short position in a commodity (that is, the investor who must make delivery) declares an intention to make delivery if the day is other than the first day permitted. Compare first position day.
