Third World
A term for developing countries. Originally used for countries that did not side explicitly with either the United States (the First World) or the Soviet Union (the Second World) during the Cold War, it has become a byword for countries with less wealth relative to others. The term is sometimes considered politically incorrect.

In a joint statement following a ministerial meeting in Istanbul on Sunday, the HIPC group said it "deplored" the fact that no poor country was represented at the G20 and urged that this be "remedied.
Byline: ANI London, January 10 (ANI): Just over a week into the new year, the average Briton is suggested to have already caused more carbon emissions in 2009 than a person in a poor country would create all year.
Despite this, the issue of unpayable poor country debt was put firmly on the international political agenda and the following year, during the G8 summit in Cologne, it was proposed that $100bn of debt relief should be provided to the 42 most heavily indebted poor countries.
