Pipeline The underwriting process that must be completed with the SEC before a security can be offering for sale to the public. Pipeline 1. Informal; the process by which a company or underwriter conducts all due diligence, files all necessary paperwork, and generally makes preparation for a new issue. The pipeline especially refers to abiding by regulations issued by the SEC. 2. More broadly, any activity or project that is in the preparatory stages.
pipeline (1) A system for carrying fluids or gases. (2) A popular expression for things that are in process. For example,“There are over 10,000 condo units in the pipeline, in various stages of construction or conversion.” Or “I'm not worried about apartment move-outs this summer because I have a number of prospects in the pipeline.” How to thank TFD for its existence?
