The ISO 4217 currency code for the Portugese Escudo.

PTE
ISO 4217 code for the Portuguese escudo. It was introduced in 1911 following the republican revolution, and was marked by high inflation throughout its history. It was removed from circulation and replaced by the euro in 2002.
