(1) Slang for perchloroethylene or tetrachloroethylene.These chemicals, used in dry cleaning, are highly toxic and will contaminate soil and groundwater.When buying property on or near the site of a present or former dry-cleaning plant, the investor should be concerned about the presence of perks and should order the appropriate tests to determine the existence and extent of contamination. (2) Slang for perquisites, meaning nonmonetary benefits. In commercial leasing, building perks might include a fitness club open only to employees of building tenants.
