Order room

The brokerage firm department receives and processes all orders to buy and sell securities.

Order Room

A department in a brokerage in which all orders are received and processed. For instance, if an investor makes an order by telephone to sell a certain security, it is likely that the person who answers the phone works in the order room. This person then refers the order to the appropriate person or department who fills the order.
