On-floor order Used for listed equity securities. Security order originating with a member on the floor of an exchange when dealing with his or her own account, versus an upstairs order. Antithesis of off-floor order. On-Floor Order An order to buy or sell a security made by a member firm on the trading floor. On-floor orders may be made when an exchange has an open outcry system. Off-floor orders have priority over on-floor orders.
