Nouveau Riche
A person or class of person who acquired wealth themselves, or at least in recent family history. The term can have a slightly negative connotation because, stereotypically, nouveau riche do not abide by social norms usually associated with the upper class. However, in the late 20th century, the term became respectable because it became indicative of personal success.
