Nonassessable Capital Stock Stock in a publicly-traded company that limits the holder's liability to the amount invested. That is, if the company issuing nonassessable capital stock is liquidated, the holder of the stock cannot lose more than he/she invested in the first place. Nonassessability contrasts with unlimited liability. Most stock issued in the United States is nonassessable capital stock.
