Newfoundland Dollar

The currency of Newfoundland between 1865 and 1949. The dollar was on a gold standard and was worth slightly more than the Canadian dollar. In 1895, however, it was pegged to the Canadian dollar following a banking crisis in Newfoundland. When Newfoundland joined Canada, its dollar was replaced by the Canadian dollar.
