National Securities Trading System
An automated quotation system connecting brokers on the National Stock Exchange (Cincinnati Stock Exchange) to other brokers around the country, allowing them to make orders for certain securities without regard for the specific exchange on which they are traded. The system is exclusive to the National Stock Exchange, but contains a blueprint for what some envision as a future nation-wide exchange. See also: Intermarket Trading System.
