NAICS
North American Industrial Classification System. A system of six digit codes used in business to classify the industry to which a company belongs. The NAICS was created by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget in 1997 to facilitate communication within and between businesses and industries. For example, an iron ore mining company might file under the code 212210.
