MUD
A municipal utility district, which is a political subdivision that administers utility-related services, sometimes requiring the issue of special assessment bonds.
Municipal Utility District
In the United States, an area for which a government-owned utility company provides electricity, water, and/or other utilities. The company may be authorized to issue bonds to finance its operations. These bonds are generally exempt from federal taxes. See also: Rural Water District.
