Tools & More MORTISERS Accu-Systems Adwoud Corp.
Shinn's crew of about a dozen craftsmen uses modern tools such as chain mortisers - a sort of combination chain saw and drill press - power planers and circular saws to rough-cut the joints, finishing them off to exact dimensions with hand chisels.
If you are using a mortising machine, set it up according to the manufacturer's instructions with the proper diameter bit as determined earlier, and set the mortise length a little longer than the lock body, about 2/3 the diameter of the mortiser bit.
