mid-cap

Also found in: Wikipedia, Hutchinson 0.07 sec.
Mid-cap
Short for "Middle Cap," mid cap refers to stocks with a market capitalization of between $2 billion to $10 billion.

Notes:
As the name implies, a mid-cap is in the middle of the pack. A mid-cap isn't too big, but at the same time has a relatively decent market cap.

Keep in mind that classifications such as "large cap" or "small cap" are only approximations that change over time. Also, the exact definition can vary between brokerage houses.

mid-cap
1. Of or relating to the common stock of a company with a middle level of market capitalization, usually within the range of $2 billion to $10 billion, although the cutoff points are fuzzy on both ends.
2. Of or relating to a mutual fund that holds mostly mid-cap stocks.
