MYR The ISO 4217 currency code for the Malaysian Ringgit. MYR ISO 4217 code for the Malaysian ringgit. It was issued in 1967 as the Malaysian dollar, though it was called the ringgit in Malay. The name ringgit was used in both languages starting in 1975. It was pegged to the U.S. dollar between 1998 and 2005 as a result of the East Asian financial crisis.
