Letter of Transmittal

Letter of Transmittal
A document used by security holder to accompany certificates surrendered in an exchange or other corporate action.

Transmittal Letter
A letter describing a transaction of a security. That is, a transmittal letter states the nature of a trade and the number of shares contained therein. A transmittal letter is sent with security certificates when they change ownership.
