A benchmark index that includes 15- and 30-year fixed-rate securities backed by mortgage pools of the Government National Mortgage Association (GNMA), Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (FHLMC), and Federal National Mortgage Association (FNMA).

Lehman Brothers Mortgage-Backed Securities Index
An index that tracks mortgage-backed securities. Specifically, it tracks securities backed by Ginnie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Fannie Mae with 15-year and 30-year maturities. It is a subset of the Lehman Brothers Aggregate Bond Index. Following Lehman Brothers' bankruptcy, it began to be managed by Barclays.
