Late tape A delay in the display of price changes on the tape of an exchange because of heavy trading. In severe instances the first digit of each price is intentionally deleted.
Late Tape A situation in which trading volume for a security is so heavy that the ticker publicly announcing quotes is delayed by a significant amount of time, usually one or two minutes. This was fairly common before electronic tickers were used, but has largely become a non-issue since electronic tickers announce prices in real time. How to thank TFD for its existence?
