Krugerrand

A coin minted in South Africa containing one troy ounce of gold. It is legal tender in South Africa but is not used. It is the first gold coin minted to be legal tender at the market value of one troy ounce of gold rather than for an amount indicated by the face value of the coin. It is one of the more frequently traded coins in the world. See also: Silver Krugerrand.
