Department of Justice

A cabinet-level body of the U.S. federal government responsible for the prosecution of federal crimes. It also provides counsel for the government and supervises law enforcement agencies such as the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The department was created in 1870.
