International Civil Aviation Organization

Also called the ICAO. An agency of the United Nations that develops standards for safe international flight. It recommends principles for inspections, infrastructure, accidents procedures, and so forth. Nearly every member of the UN is also a member of the ICAO. It was established in 1947 and is based in Montreal.
