R-value

A measure of the heat conductivity of material. The higher the R-value,the better the insulating qualities. The Federal Trade Commission,in something called the R-Value Rule, requires certain disclosures regarding insulation. Among other things, new home sellers must put the following in every sales contract: the type, thickness, and R-value of the insulation that will be installed in each part of the house.Failure to make the required disclosures amounts to a deceptive trade practice and is punishable by fines. For full text of the rule, see 16 CFR 460 available at the Government Printing Office Web site at www.gpo.gov.

We've also thought about installing a loft about eight-feet high over sections of the barn to provide further insulation value.
The slope of the panel cost lines is the primary factor of interest, as it provides the cost per insulation value information.
Single, double and even triple internal films that create as many as four separate cavities inside the insulating glass unit can achieve a center of glass insulation value of R-20 superior to an insulated wall.
The formula takes into account glass type, solar and visible light transmittance and reflectance, shading coefficient and the heat insulation value.
This lightweight material -- at least three times lighter than a comparably sized glass panel with the same thermal insulation value -- saves fuel in shipping and installation.

Coating application is a critical factor in determining the insulation value of the coating, because a porous coating provides air pockets that can reduce heat transfer and increase insulation.
