Ramadan The ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Most Muslims are required to fast from sunrise to sunset during Ramadan. Economically, the use of electricity and the purchase of food and medicine may increase during Ramadan in Muslim-majority areas, due to the physical hardships of adjusting one's schedule from eating during the day to eating at night.
