IEA Petroleum Reserves The required oil reserves members of the International Energy Agency (IEA) must maintain as a condition of membership. The IEA was established to prevent or at least reduce energy crises caused by disruptions in the oil market. For that reason, it requires member states to maintain oil reserves containing at least 90 days' worth of the previous year's net import of oil. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
