A member of an accretional homologous series can be regarded as a distinct species if it has the following properties: (a) unique size of the fundamental building block; (b) unique crystallographic unit cell; and (c) unique composition or a limited compositional range (Makovicky, 1989).
The effects of water and a homologous series of alcohols (methanol, ethanol, propanol, and butanol) on the plasma polymerized membranes were studied.
The objectives of the research described in this article were: 1) to perform evaluations of several compounds identified in either drinking water or algal samples; 2) to evaluate the application of the Weber-Fechner law in relating odor intensity to compound concentration, 3) to if odor descriptors ascribed to a homologous series changed either among the compounds or with changes in the compound concentration; and 4) calculate the OTCs of the odorous organic compounds.
