An asset used, usually in a factory or similar setting, to make products in large quantities. A hard manufacturing asset often may not be adapted easily and may only be able to make a defined set of products. A hard manufacturing asset is a major business expense but is necessary in some sectors to make what a company sells. It is one of the most important types of fixed assets.
