An investor who has a large stake in a corporation and takes an active role in its management . Antithesis of hands-off investor.

Hands-On Investor

A shareholder or other investor who has enough equity to affect the company's management and elects to do so. A hand-on investor usually has an exceptionally large stake in the company and chooses to take an active role in how the company is being run. A hands-on investor may have little confidence in the current management; in any case, the situation results in the investor either appointing the management or allowing the existing management little autonomy.
