HM Revenue and Customs

The office of the British government responsible for tax collection. It also pays certain state benefits, notably refundable tax credits and other payments related to taxation. It is governed by a board of directors and is responsible to the chancellor of the exchequer. It was created in 2005 by the merger of Inland Revenue and HM Customs.
