Gulf Cooperation Council
An international organization fostering greater political and economic unity for Arab countries in the Arabian Gulf. Among other things, it exists to promote similar regulatory regimes, to unify military presence and to advance the private sector. Most members had pledged to create a common currency by 2010, but this has been postponed indefinitely. See also: Khaleeji.
