Group rotation The tendency of stocks in one sector of the market to outperform and then underperform other industries, usually as a result of economic cycles or the conditions in a particular industry.
Group Rotation 1. The tendency for some industries and sectors to perform better than others at different times. Group rotation is a result of economic cycles. 2. An active management strategy in which a money manager changes the industries or sectors represented in a portfolio or fund in order to always hold securities in the strongest sectors.
