A broker-dealer trades in a personal account prior to filling the orders of his or her clients. Prohibited by the NASD rules of fair practice. Also see front running

Going Ahead
The act or practice of a broker making a trade on his/her own account before filling a similar order on behalf of a client. Going ahead is considered a form of insider trading and as such is illegal.
