Global Investment Performance Standards A code of ethical conduct in financial reporting. The CFA Institute puts out the GIPS and all members agree to abide by them. The GIPS seek to promote transparency and honesty in financial analysis. An important component of the GIPS is the concept that the money manager must report all discretionary accounts he/she controls, not simply those that perform well.
