The Agreement on Agriculture (AoA) is a product of the Uruguay Round of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) negotiations (1986-94). Perhaps most importantly, it stipulated the creation of a new World Trade Organization that would encompass the pre-existing General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) as well as the new provisions resulting from the Uruguay Round. The General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) is the result of a conference among national representatives held in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire in 1944. |
