Free Marketeer

Also found in: Dictionary/thesaurus, Wikipedia 0.01 sec.
Free Marketeer
A person who believes in the system of economics that minimizes government intervention and maximizes the role of the market. A free marketeer believes that rational economic actors acting in their own self interest deal with information and price goods and services more efficiently than individuals acting under any other system. Free marketers generally believe that government regulations, trade barriers and labor laws distort the market. They argue that the market provides the most opportunities for both consumers and producers by creating more jobs and allowing competition to determine which businesses are successful.
