Fourth Market
The trading of securities between institutions on an over-the-counter computer network. Trades between institutions will often be traded in large blocks and without brokers, allowing the institutions to avoid brokerage fees.

Notes:
When a mutual fund and a pension fund enter into a large block trade between themselves they would be doing it in the fourth market, usually over an electronic communication network.
