Flash Price

    0.01 sec.
Flash Price
On a ticker tape, the current price of a security that interrupts a long-delayed price. That is, in a situation in which trading volume is so heavy that the ticker publicly announcing quotes is delayed by a significant amount of time, usually more than five minutes, the ticker might interrupt the series of delayed prices with a flash price to keep investors as up to date as possible. This was fairly common before electronic tickers were used, but has become largely a non-issue since then because electronic tickers announce prices in real time.

flash price
The price of a selected security reported out-of-order on the consolidated tape when market volume becomes so heavy that the tape runs six or more minutes late. Flash prices are intended to provide traders and investors with up-to-date information on widely held stock.
