Flash Price On a ticker tape, the current price of a security that interrupts a long-delayed price. That is, in a situation in which trading volume is so heavy that the ticker publicly announcing quotes is delayed by a significant amount of time, usually more than five minutes, the ticker might interrupt the series of delayed prices with a flash price to keep investors as up to date as possible. This was fairly common before electronic tickers were used, but has become largely a non-issue since then because electronic tickers announce prices in real time.
