Field Bet

The act or practice of buying stocks in several companies in the same, declining industry. The idea behind a field bet is to accept the losses for a time, hoping that several companies will go bankrupt and that the remaining companies will reform themselves, resulting in solid gains. Field betting is a highly risky strategy.
