Joint
Describing anything in which two or more persons hold equal rights and responsibilities. For example, every account holder may use the funds in a joint account (though not always independently from the other holders), and each owner is equally liable for a jointly-held property.

CRANIOSYNOSTOSIS is a birth defect of the brain characterised by the premature closure of one or more of the fibrous joints between the bones of the skull before brain growth is complete.
The infant skull can expand to accommodate the buildup of CSF because the sutures (the fibrous joints that connect the bones of the skull) have not yet closed.
