Folio A portfolio of stocks and other securities that an investor may buy or sell as a single unit, much like a mutual fund. Unlike a mutual fund, however, the investor may add or subtract securities from the portfolio at his/her discretion for a flat monthly or annual fee to the brokerage providing the folio. This gives the investor substantial control over the portfolio ? especially in its tax consequences ? while still providing the main advantage of a mutual fund, namely disbursing risk over a wide variety of securities. folio In some states, refers to the page number of the book in which real estate documents are recorded.
