European Currency Quotation

An indirect quotation in the foreign exchange markets, whereby the value of a foreign currency is stated as a per unit measure of the U.S. dollar.

Notes:

For example, a European foreign currency quote would be $CDN per $US. This is not the standard method of quoting foreign exchange rates in relation to the U.S. dollar.

In foreign exchange trading, the value of a dollar in terms of a foreign currency. For example, if the euro is worth 90¢, the European currency quotation would be expressed as 1.11, meaning that there are 1.11 euros to the dollar. Also called divider. Compare American currency quotation.
