Election Period

    0.01 sec.
Election Period
The period of time during which the holder can elect to extend and extendible bond, or to retract a retractable bond.

Election Period
In extendable bonds and retractable bonds, a period of time during which a bondholder must inform the issuer whether or not he/she intends to exercise the option to extend or retract. Both types of bonds allow a bondholder to change the maturity date and either move it forward or push it back, depending upon the bondholder's interests and investment goals. However, if he/she is to take advantage of this feature, he/she must inform the issuer during the election period.
