Efficient set Graph representing a set of portfolios that maximize expected return at each level of portfolio risk. Efficient Set Also called the efficient frontier or Markowitz efficient set of portfolios; in Markowitz Portfolio Theory, a set of portfolios giving the highest level of expected return at different levels of risk. Harry Markowitz theorized that each level of risk contains one combination of assets giving the highest level of expected return. An efficient set of portfolios is represented as a line on a graph with risk as the x-axis and expected return as the y-axis. | In her paper, Health Care Politics and the Intergovernmental Framework in Canada, Johnson Reddler contends that while current intergovernmental relations has helped to create a "stable and efficient set of arrangements for health care", they have not been entirely successful in developing an effective system.
