Economic Cooperation Organization

Economic Cooperation Organization
An international organization consisting of 10 non-Arab, Muslim-majority countries in central and western Asia. Its goal is to create a common market modeled along the lines of the European Union. It was established in 1985 and is based in Tehran, Iran.

Referring to the regional and international ties between the two countries, Mottaki said that Iran and Turkmenistan had remarkable cooperation in the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and UN, adding that the cooperation could enter new phases through diplomatic negotiations.

Qureshi appreciated the consultations and cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey in the UN, Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), D-8 Forum and other international organizations, and expressed the hope that such cooperation would continue in furtherance of mutual and regional interest in these fora.
